Women's Tennis To Travel To Illinois State For Redbird Invitational

Flyers Will Play Illinois State Saturday To Open Invite

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team will hit the road this weekend for two matches in the Illinois State Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill.

The Flyers will open play on Saturday against the Redbirds of Illinois State at 10 a.m. Depending on how they fare in that matchup, they will either play Bowling Green or Milwaukee on Sunday.

Dayton is coming off a 5-2 loss to Cleveland State last Friday. Kelly Pleiman picked up a win in the No. 2 singles flight in the contest.

Illinois State enters the weekend on a two-match losing streak after falling at Butler last Sunday. Laura Arciniegas has performed well for the Redbirds this season, boasting a 6-0 individual record.

Bowling Green is 3-3 this season after splitting two matches last weekend. The Falcons topped Saint Francis University on Friday before falling to Indianapolis on Sunday. Ioanna Tsadari and Ayumi Sasaki each won both singles matches they competed in this weekend.

Milwaukee is the final team the Flyers could play against on Sunday and come into the invitational with a 5-4 record. Like Bowling Green, the Panthers also split last weekend, falling to Drake on Saturday before coming back and beating Northern Iowa on Sunday. Milwaukee has gotten strong play out of its doubles play this season, going 20-4 overall in doubles flights.
