Tallahassee, Fla. – The University of Dayton baseball team fell at Florida A&M 8-5 on Friday in Tallahassee, Fla.
It marked the fourth-consecutive loss for the Flyers after starting the season 3-1.
Coach's Corner
"We need to play better in all facets of the game," head coach
Jayson King said. "Making adjustments is key to allow for that to happen as it's the key to this game."
On the Mound
Hunter Wolfe started the game for the Flyers, going 4.1 innings on the mound, allowing five hits and five earned runs while striking out seven. Wolfe had success in the first four innings, but ran into trouble in the fifth when Florida A&M scored seven runs.
Justin Longbrake relieved Wolfe, finishing the inning but allowing three hits and two runs of his own.
R.J. Wagner and
Bryce Hellgeth shut the door the rest of the way, going 3 combined innings allowing just two hits and striking out four.
Scoring Plays
Top 4: (1-0 Flyers)
Riley Tirotta led off the inning with a hit by pitch before
Alex Brickman took an 0-1 pitch and doubled off the left center field fence, opening the scoring and giving the Flyers a 1-0 lead.
Bottom 4: (Tied 1-1)
The Rattlers opened with a double to right center before a throwing error on a ground ball to
Mariano Ricciardi allowed the run to score from second.
Bottom 5: (8-1 Rattlers)
Hunter Wolfe allowed back-to-back hits to open the inning before getting a strike out. He allowed the next three on with a hit by pitch and two walks, allowing two runs and ending his day on the mound.
Justin Longbrake gave up three-consecutive hits upon entering the game, allowing another five runs to score and giving the Rattlers an 8-1 lead.
Top 6: (8-5 Rattlers)
Benjamin Blackwell led off with a walk followed by a
Riley Tirotta fielder's choice.
Alex Brickman hit his second double of the night, scoring Tirotta and cutting the lead to six.
Marcos Pujols singled up the middle and
Tate Hagan drove them all home with his first home run of the season in his hometown. Hagan took a 2-1 pitch over the right field wall making it an 8-5 deficit.

The Flyers will look to bounce back Saturday at 2 p.m. It will be the second of three games against Florida A&M.
