MACON, Ga. - The University of Dayton softball team opened its 2020 season Friday at the Mercer Invitational. Dayton outlasted Wright State, 3-2 (8), before falling to Eastern Kentucky, 14-6 (5), in the night cap. Due to a late start time, the Flyers' second game of the day did not end until well after midnight Saturday morning.
Dayton is now 1-1 while Eastern Kentucky also ended the day 1-1. Wright State is 0-2 after the first day of play.

Dayton continues play at the Mercer Invitational Saturday. First pitch between Dayton and Tennessee Tech is set for 11:15 a.m. followed by a 1:30 p.m. tilt against host Mercer. All games are being played at the Bears' Sikes Field and admission is free.
