NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly women's basketball awards and recognized University of Dayton freshman
Makira Cook as Rookie of the Week.
Cook averaged 11.0 points, 2.5 assists, and shot 61.5 percent from the field in Dayton's two wins to open A-10 play last week. The Hamilton, Ohio native had a career-night against St. Bonaventure Friday, scoring 18 points, grabbing four boards, and dishing out three assists in the victory.
This season, Cook has appeared in all four games with one start and is averaging 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
This is the first accolade for Cook this season and the first Flyer to receive A-10 weekly honors.
Dayton returns to action this Friday at George Mason.
