DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is hitting the road for Atlantic 10 matches at Fordham and Rhode Island this weekend. Dayton and Fordham will square off Friday at 6 p.m. at the Rams' Rose Hill Gym followed by a 6 p.m. tilt at Rhode Island's Keaney Gym on Saturday.

Scouting Fordham
Fordham (6-14, 3-6 A-10) split its Atlantic 10 matches last weekend dropping a 3-1 decision at George Mason and claiming a straight-set win at George Washington. The Rams' offense is led by Whitley Moody with 3.62 kills/set (3rd A-10) and Megan Brzozowski is the team's primary setter with 8.90 assists/set (3rd A-10). Mallory Lipski gets under 4.67 digs/set (3rd A-10) and Isabel Fichtel leads the Fordham block with 0.89 per set (10th A-10).
Scouting Rhode Island
Rhode Island (11-14, 3-6 A-10) also split its matches last weekend, falling at George Mason, 3-0, and picking up a 3-0 win at George Washington. Brynne Wright averages 2.56 kills/set and Grace Hammond tallies 7.09 assists/set (5th A-10) to lead the URI offense. Tori Britton collects 0.63 blocks/set and Ella Ratzloff passes 4.68 digs/set (2ndA-10) for the Rams' defense.
Series Stuff
Fordham: Dayton leads, 42-1
The Flyers picked up a 3-1 win over the Rams two weeks ago at Frericks Center, the first time Fordham has won a set over Dayton since 2017.
Rhode Island: Dayton leads, 37-10
When Rhode Island visited Dayton on Oct. 15, the Flyers claimed a straight-set win over the Rams. The last time URI defeated UD was a 3-2 win in Keaney Gym on Oct. 12, 2013.
RPI Rankings
In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2021 season (Oct. 25), Dayton ranked 41st according to NCAA.com. Fordham came in at 301st and Rhode Island was rated 266th.
Hausfeld Court
Former Flyer Kacie Hausfeld passed away tragically in an airplane crash during her time as a Dayton Flyer. In her memory, her family made a substantial contribution to the Dayton volleyball program. That donation enabled the program to renovate Frericks Center, adding a new public address and sound system, new seating on the event level, new scoreboards and video boards and the playing surface was named "Hausfeld Court" among many other improvements to the facility.

Tim Horsmon is in his 13th season overall, and eighth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2021. His record at Dayton is 315-89 and his career win-loss mark sits at 491-253 in 23 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is now the program's winningest coach, surpassing R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 13 seasons (2009-2021), the Flyers have recorded a 162-14 (.921) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2020, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton made its 21st-consecutive and 24th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2020. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 31-10 record in league tournaments.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 14 times (2020, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998).
