DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team began the post-season on Sunday, as they hosted the Richmond Spiders for the Quarterfinal round of the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Flyers took an early lead before surrendering a goal in the first half, but came out of the locker room firing, earning a trip to the semifinals with a 3-1 victory.

Just six minutes into the match,
Marlee Taylor opened the scoring by netting her sixth goal of the season, benefitting from a great cross into the box from the foot of
Jessica Sheldon and slotting it past Richmond keeper Taylor Montague. The Spiders would answer back just 19 minutes later on Emma Coleman's third goal of the season, bringing the score level, where it would remain until the teams hit the locker rooms for halftime. The Flyers have gotten huge contributions as of late from
Laney Huber, and that theme continued on Sunday, as she would net her seventh goal of the season in the 62
nd minute to give the Flyers a 2-1 lead, a goal that would serve as the eventual match-winning goal.
Itala Gemelli sealed the deal for the Flyers, netting her 12
th of the season in the 87
th minute to bring the final score to 3-1 in favor of UD.

With Sunday's victory, the Flyers are the highest remaining seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship, meaning they have earned the honor to host the semifinals and finals of the conference championship next week. Both semifinals will be played on Friday, Nov. 5 at Baujan Field, with the championship match slated for Sunday, Nov. 7. The two semifinals matches will be played at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Friday, and the championship match will be played on Sunday at noon. The Flyers will play in the second semifinal on Sunday, as they will host the Saint Louis Billikens at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. All remaining matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
