DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team came up short to the Duke Blue Devils by a score of 70-56.  The Flyers were led by sophomore 
Makira Cook with 18 points and three assists. She was jointed in double digits by graduate students 
Jenna Giacone (15) and 
Erin Whalen (13). The Flyers fall to 1-1 while the Blue Devils improve to 2-0.

While leading 63-52 with 2:42 remaining, the Blue Devils hit their 5th straight shot to pull away from the Flyers.

st Quarter: Duke 24, Dayton 14
	- Both teams' defense opened the game strong as there was a combined six points in the first four minutes off a combined 3-17 shooting.
- By the first media timeout, the Blue Devils had jumped out to a 10-6 lead.

- Duke answered by going on an 8-0 run to regain a 37-31 lead.

rd Quarter: Duke 54, Dayton 46
	- Jenna Giacone opened the half making back-to-back layups. To bring Dayton back to within six.
- A 12-0 run by the Flyers tied the game at 44.  During this stretch Duke was held scoreless for 5:48 and had four turnovers.
- Giacone had eight points in the quarter off 4-7 shooting.
- The Flyers were held scoreless for the final 3:02 of the quarter.

th Quarter: Duke 70, Dayton 56
	- Both teams exchanged a pair of buckets early in the quarter as the Blue Devils maintained a six-point lead.
- With five minutes reaming the Flyers trailed 61-52.
- The Blue Devils used 8-0 run to get a 14-point lead with two minutes to play.
