DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to make the program's 16th appearance in the NCAA Tournament this week and will square off against Marquette in First Round action. The Flyers and Golden Eagles will play Thursday, Dec. 2 at 4:30 p.m. at Purdue's Holloway Gymnasium.
With a win on Thursday, Dayton will advance to the Second Round and will play the winner of sixth-seeded Purdue versus Illinois State on Friday at 5 p.m. The matches will be streamed via ESPN+ and will also be available to follow along via live stats.

Dayton (25-5, 16-0 A-10) extended its winning streak to 19 matches with wins over Duquesne (3-2) and Fordham (3-0) in the 2021 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship on its way to earning the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Scouting Marquette
Marquette (26-5, 16-2 Big East) claimed a share of the Big East regular season title and finished as runners-up to 14th-seeded Creighton in the conference championship. The Golden Eagles are making their 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and have posted a 6-9 mark in national post-season games with an appearance in the regional semifinals in 2018. Marquette's offense is led by Big East co-Player of the Year Taylor Wolf who ranks second in NCAA DI with seven triple-doubles on the season, serving as both a right side hitter and setter for the Golden Eagles.

Dayton leads, 21-8
While Dayton leads the all-time series that dates back to 1978, Marquette has won the last three meetings between the two programs, including a 3-0 Golden Eagle win in the 2019 NCAA First Round also hosted by Purdue. The Flyers claimed a 3-2 win on Sept. 5, 2003 in the Nike Invitational hosted by Minnesota.

In the NCAA's most recent Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2021 season (Nov. 28), Dayton ranked 40th according to NCAA.com. Marquette was rated 16th.
