DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team dominated the game against IUP with a constant lead, earning an 83-46 win in the preseason opener.  
 
KEY MOMENT
1^st quarter – Dayton outscored IUP 29-8 in the first quarter and never looked back.
 
1^st Quarter:
Dayton 29, IUP 8

• Dayton had a 17-point run towards the end of the first quarter.
• The Flyers shot 78.6 percent in the first 10 minutes and held the Crimson Hawks to 33.3 percent shooting.
• Graduate student Erin Whalen led the Flyers with nine points in the first quarter.
• UD had a 14-2 points off turnover advantage.

 
2^nd Quarter
Dayton 49, IUP 17

• Dayton started the quarter with a 21-point lead and finished with a 32-point lead.
• Graduate student Jenna Giacone gave the Flyers their biggest lead of the half with a three-pointer at 3:38.
• Dayton then went on a three-minute scoring drought as they couldn't find a flow offensively.
• The Flyers held the Hawks to single digits once again.
• Three Dayton players were double-digits scoring: Whalen (11 points), Giacone (10 points), and sophomore Makira Cook (11 points)

 
3^rd quarter
Dayton 67, IUP 32

• IUP scored 15 points in the third and only gage up 18 points to make it their closest 10 minutes yet.
• The Flyers were 6-of-12 from the field in the third.
• Senior Kyla Whitehead powered UD with eight points on 3-of-3 shooting in the quarter.

 
4^th Quarter
Dayton, 83 IUP, 46

• Redshirt junior Maliya Perry hit a layup to start the fourth and push UD's lead back to 37.
• By the 5:13 mark, sophomore Capria Brown's three gave the Flyers' its biggest margin of the entire game at 41 points.
• Despite a late surge by the Hawks, they were unable to catch the Flyers.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• 16 – Whalen scored a game-high 16 points.
• 5 and 5 – Bradshaw secured five rebounds and five assists.
• 20 – UD had 20 assists in the game.
• 15-of-17 – The Flyers shot 88.2 percent from the free throw line.
• 61% - Dayton shot 61 percent overall.

 
KEY STAT

• 40-10 – The Flyers had 40 points from their bench while the Hawks only had 10 points.
