ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton men's soccer team finished off its season Saturday with a 2-0 defeat to top seed and No. 8 team in the nation Saint Louis on the road.
The Flyers (6-9-3, 3-4-1 A-10) faced a tough match-up to the undefeated Billikens and were unable to advance in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
GAME BREAKDOWN
- Saint Louis took the initial lead in the 16th minute with a goal from A.J. Palazzolo.
- The Billikens then put the game away in the 86th minute with a goal from Chris Bruch.
- Dayton had eight shots in the close affair with SLU recording seven.
- Shots on goal, fouls, and corners were all within one of each team.
- Senior Kingsford Adjei had four shots to lead UD while four other players had one attempt.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"We went down fighting tonight," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "It's a game of inches and we just couldn't get the ball to roll our way. In the second half, we played our best soccer of the season and the effort was outstanding."
