Women's Soccer Back In Action Vs. Butler Sunday

Flyers Will Face The Bulldogs At Grand Park At 7 p.m.

DAYTON –
The University of Dayton women's soccer team takes on Butler this Sunday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. ET at Grand Park (indoor facility) in Westfield, Ind. There will be live stats but no live video stream.

Both the Flyers and Bulldogs have a 2-0-0 record heading into the non-conference matchup.

THE SERIES
• Dayton leads the series history, 5-3-1.
• The series dates back to 1991, when the Flyers won the first meeting 4-2 on the road.
•  Butler won the last meeting 1-0 on Aug. 30, 2018.

FLYER FACTS
•  Nine different Flyers scored last season and five were freshmen.
•  This season the Flyers are averaging 2.0 goals per game in the two first matches this season. All four goals have come from UD freshmen this season: Diana Benigno, Itala Gemelli, Mia Perri, and Madison Wilson.
•  Sophomore Jessica Sheldon leads the Flyers with two assists.
•  UD returns eight starters from a squad that went 7-9-3 overall and 5-3-2 in conference play in 2019. 
•  However, the first two matches this season, the Flyers have started all freshmen and sophomores on the field.
•  Redshirt junior Carly Becker has earned the start in goal in both matches this season. Sophomore Madelyn Dewey has also played 90 minutes, coming off the bench to start the second half in both matches. Dewey is 2-0-0 on the season with four saves.

SCOUTING BUTLER
• Butler defeated University of Indianapolis 8-0 in its opener and is coming off a 9-2 victory over Marian on Feb. 17. Butler is averaging 8.5 goals per game through the first two contests
• Anja Savich tied a Butler record for goals in a single game after recording four against Marian.
• Nine Bulldogs have scored at least one goal so far this season.
• Stephanie Rodriguez is 2-0 in the net for the Bulldogs with one shutout this year.
