DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to open the home portion of its spring 2021 schedule Friday as it plays host to Duquesne. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Frericks Center.
The contest is not open to the general public but fans can watch a live stream via 
ESPN+ and follow along via

SCOUTING DUQUESNE
Duquesne enters Friday's contest with an 0-1 record after falling to VCU at home in straight sets on Feb. 12, the Dukes only match of the season thus far. Duquesne was scheduled to play at Davidson on Feb. 5 but that match was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within Davidson's program. The Dukes return over 75 percent of their kills from last season and is led offensively by Morgan Kelly with 3.67 kills/set.
ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (2-1, 0-1 A-10) is coming off a thrilling 3-2 win at (RV) Wright State on Feb. 16. The Flyers dropped their first Atlantic 10 contest to the Billikens of Saint Louis on Feb. 13 and UD had its match at VCU on Feb. 19 postponed due to COVID-19 protocols with the Rams' program. Junior outside hitter 
Jamie Peterson leads the Flyers' offense with 5.15 kills/set (4th NCAA) while senior 
Bridget Doherty is the team's primary setter averaging 10.08 assists/set. Freshman 
Alayna Yates is stuffing 1.82 blocks/set (8th NCAA) and junior 
Maura Collins gets under 4.15 digs/set for Dayton.
THE SERIES
Dayton leads, 45-4
Dayton and Duquesne last squared off on Nov. 9, 2019, a 3-0 win for the Flyers in Pittsburgh. The Flyers have won nine straight in the all-time series with the last win by the Dukes a 3-1 semifinals win at the 2013 A-10 Championship in Washington, D.C.
ATLANTIC 10 DIVIDED INTO PODS:
The Atlantic 10 has divided the 10 teams that participate in volleyball into two geographical pods. Dayton is grouped in the "West Pod" with Davidson, Duquesne, Saint Louis and VCU. The Flyers are scheduled to play a 10-match conference-only schedule. 
UP NEXT
Next weekend Dayton will be hosting both Davidson and VCU at Frericks Center. The Flyers and Wildcats will square off on Friday, March 5 at 5 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. match between UD and VCU on Saturday, March 6.
