DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team opens Atlantic 10 play Saturday, March 13 at Saint Louis at 7 p.m. ET.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are 0-2 on the season with losses to Bowling Green and Bellarmine. In the exhibition matches however, Dayton defeated Akron and Cedarville and are looking to find that some production as they begin league play.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 16th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 152 victories, the most in UD history. He returns the reigning Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year

Overall, Dayton is scoring 1.50 points per game and giving up 2.50 goals to opponents. The Flyers are outshooting opposing teams 17.5 to 12.5 and have a 17-6 corner kick advantage.

Kingsford Adjei both have goals on the year while sophomore Toluwalase Oladienbo has a team-high two assists. Freshman goalkeeper
Marc Kouadio has played every minute in goal this season and preseason with six saves.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
SAINT LOUIS
Saint Louis hosts Dayton with a 5-2 record overall this season and winners of two of its last three games. The Billikens are 3-1 at home this season as well.
Head coach Kevin Kalish is in his third season at his alma mater and has nine years of head coaching experience.
The Billikens were picked as the preseason favorites in the Atlantic 10 and are averaging 1.71 goals per game, but are stifling defensively with just 0.57 goals allowed. Both losses this season were just 1-0. SLU is outshooting opposing teams 12.0 to 8.3 and have a higher percentage.
SLU is led by former A-10 Player of the Week this year Simon Becher, who has three goals and six shots on goal this season. Mason Leeth has chipped in two goals and assist as well. Sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Schulte has picked up A-10 honors this year as well, earning Defensive Player of the Week accolades. He has started all seven games with a 0.56 goals against average and 17 saves to go with three shutouts.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Saint Louis have played 25 times previously with the Billikens controlling the series, 16 wins to the Flyers' six victories. UD came out on top in the last meeting in 2019, 2-1 at Hermann Stadium.
LAST OUTING
Dayton suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Bellarmine Wednesday, March 10 after trailing 2-0.
Jonas Fjeldberg was able to get a goal back in the second half and the Flyers had two near chances just miss, but they were unable to make a comeback against the recently Division I program.
Saint Louis defeated Lipscomb 2-0 on March 7 at home thanks to a first half goal by Simon Becher and the clincher in the second half by Kipp Keller via the penatly spot.
FJELDBERG DRAFTED BY F.C. CINCINNATI
Dayton senior
Jonas Fjeldberg was recently drafted in the 2021 MLS Superdraft by F.C. Cincinnati with the 54th pick overall in the second round. He will join up with the team after the completion of his senior campaign.
INTERNATIONAL FLAIR
Dayton has been known to have numerous international players and this year is no different. The Flyers' roster contains eight international players from the countries of Sweden, Ghana, Norway, Nigeria, Bosnia, and South Africa.
RECAPPING THE 2019 SEASON
Dayton last competed in the fall of 2019 and went 13-8 overall and 6-2 in A-10 play. The Flyers got hot late and won five games in a row to take them all the way to the A-10 Championship game before eventually falling to Rhode Island in the final.
