Men's Tennis To Play At Xavier Friday

Flyers Will Look For First Road Victory In 2021

DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will head to Cincinnati on Friday to take on the Xavier Musketeers at Jim and Mary Brockhoff Tennis Facility. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Head coach Ryan Meyer enters the match with 99 career victories and will look to hit triple digits with a win in Cincinnati.

The Flyers split last week's matches, going 1-1 and putting the team's overall record at 6-5 in 2021. Dayton fell on the road to Ball State Thursday before defeating EIU on Friday and extending UD's home winning streak to six consecutive wins. The Flyers have taken a 1-0 lead in the last five matches, taking each doubles point in those contests. Dayton is 6-1 in the last seven matches overall after an 0-4 start to the season.

Xavier currently sits at 2-4 in 2021 after also splitting last weekend. The Musketeers took down Eastern Illinois on Saturday before dropping to Ball State on Sunday. Arnaud Restifo and Brett Winters have taken all of the reps at No. 1 singles to this point for Xavier, posting a 5-1 record in the first singles flight. The Musketeers have also been strong in doubles play, with their pairs going a combined 11-3 in their individual doubles matches.

Dayton has won each of the last two matches against Xavier, with the last contest between the two schools resulting in a 4-0 UD victory on March 9, 2019.
