Men's Soccer Hosts St. Bonaventure Saturday At Baujan Field

The Flyers Are Coming Off Their First A-10 Victory

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team returns home from a two-game road stretch to host St. Bonaventure for the first of two meetings this season on Saturday, March 20 at 6 p.m. at Baujan Field.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS
The Flyers are coming off their first win of the season this week, a huge 4-2 victory on the road at Duquesne. Dayton is now 1-3 on the year and 1-1 in Atlantic 10 play. UD is also 0-2 at home this year.

Head coach Dennis Currier is in his 16th season at the helm of the Flyers, totaling 153 victories, the most in UD history. He returns the reigning Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year Jonas Fjeldberg, A-10 Midfielder of the Year Kingsford Adjei, and A-10 Rookie of the Year Toluwalase Oladienbo.

Overall, Dayton is scoring 1.75 goals per game and giving up 2.25 to opponents. The Flyers are outshooting opposing teams 17.2 to 16.2.

The Flyers are led by by junior Kingsford Adjei who has a team-high three goals for six points and coming off a brace at Duquesne. Senior Jonas Fjeldberg has chipped in six points as well with two goals and two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Marc Kouadio is coming off a career 10-save performance against the Dukes.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
ST. BONAVENTURE

St. Bonaventure comes to Dayton with a 3-2 record overall, but an 0-2 A-10 mark after losing to Saint Louis this week. The Bonnies are 2-0 away from home this season and have lost two straight.

Head coach Kwame Oduro is in his seventh season in charge of St. Bonaventure.

The Bonnies average 1.60 goals per outing and allow opponents 1.60 goals. SBU is being outshot opposing squads 10.2 to 11.4, and at a lower percentage.

St. Bonaventure is led by Shea Currey with three goals already this season while four other Bonnies have scored at least once. Cuneyt Vardar has added two goals and an assist as well. Goalkeeper Justyn Sandhu has totaled 20 saves and a 1.54 goals against average in five games.

THE SERIES
Dayton and St. Bonaventure have played 20 times previously with the Flyers controlling the series and 13 wins to SBU's 17. In the last meeting in 2019, UD won at home 6-2. Toluwalase Oladeinbo and Kinsgford Adjei both had two goals each that match.

LAST OUTING
Dayton rode a big second half to earn a 4-2 road win at Duquesne Wednesday, scoring all four goals in the second half including three over a 2:22 stretch for the Flyers' first win of the year. Kingsford Adjei scored two goals in the game. Jonas Fjeldberg had five assists.

St. Bonaventure fell for the second straight game 2-0 at Saint Louis on Wednesday. The Bonnies have not scored in the past two games on top of that.

UP NEXT
Dayton will remain at home to host Saint Louis on Sunday, March 28 as the Flyers look to avenge a road loss from earlier this season. Kick-off is slated for 6 p.m. ET at Baujan.
