DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team will play two home matches this weekend beginning Friday, March 19 at 6 p.m. vs. Xavier at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg, Ohio. The Flyers will remain home on Saturday to host West Virginia State in the team's first home outdoor tennis match of the season at 3 p.m. at Graul Tennis Complex.

UD is currently 4-7 in 2021 after a road loss to Butler last weekend. The Flyers opened the match taking the doubles point for the fifth straight match. Sophomores
Paige Kompa and
Elizabeth Hamilton have been a strong force in the No. 1 doubles flight to this point in the season with a 7-3 record as a pair. Junior
Natalie Stanton and sophomore
Erica Wojcikiewicz also have a winning record together at 6-5 in No. 2 doubles. Wojcikiewicz has also been consistent in singles play with seven wins so far this season individually.

Xavier will compete for the first time since Feb. 27 in Friday's contest and sit at 7-1 overall in 2021. The Musketeers have won four in a row after defeating Middle Tennessee State in February. Ahmeir Kyle has been the staple for Xavier in No. 1 singles, posting a 6-1 record in the first flight. Kat Lyman has also been strong for the Musketeers, having won every match in 2021 with an 8-0 individual record across No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

West Virginia State is 1-2 in 2021 after beating Salem University 6-1 on March 11. The Yellow Jackets will take on an Atlantic 10 opponent for the second time this season, when WVSU opened the season with a loss to Davidson.
