LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Dayton softball team dropped two games at No. 9/10 Kentucky Saturday at the Wildcats' John Cropp Stadium. Both games were decided by the same margin, 3-1.
Dayton moves to 4-10 on the season while Kentucky improves to 23-2 overall.
GAME ONE
Kentucky 3, Dayton 1
• sophomore
Katie Reeg tallied two hits and scored the Flyers' lone run in game one
• freshman
Addy Bullis recorded six strikeouts, her third game this season with six or more Ks in her third career complete game
Winning Pitcher: Tatum Spangler (3-0) - 5.1 IP, zero earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts
Save: Miranda Stoddard (2) - 1.2 IP, zero earned runs on one hit with two strikeouts
Losing Pitcher: Bullis (2-3) - 6.0 IP, three earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts
GAME TWO
Kentucky 3, Dayton 1
• as a team, the Flyers tallied six hits including freshman
Megan Ward's RBI double in the third
Winning Pitcher: Autumn Humes (9-1) - 7.0 IP, one earned run on six hits with nine strikeouts
Losing Pitcher:
Kelsey Gumm (0-3) - 3.0 IP, three earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts
UP NEXT
Dayton is set to host Youngstown State Sunday for a midday doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. ET at UD Softball Stadium March 21.
