DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team will head to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats on Wednesday afternoon at Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
Â
The Flyers split last weekend's matches, first dropping a contest to Xavier before defeating West Virginia State in UD's first home outdoor match of the season. On Saturday against the Yellow Jackets, Dayton rebounded after dropping the doubles point by taking five of six singles matches against WVSU. Senior
Kelly Pleiman went 2-0 on the day while sophomore
Erica Wojcikiewicz improved to 8-5 in singles play on the season.
Â
Cincinnati played three matches last week, dropping all three contests to put the team's record at 2-8 in 2021. First they fell on the road at Houston and at SMU before returning home and falling to Xavier 4-3. Ioana Guna has been the staple at No. 1 singles this season, competing in the flight in all 10 matches for UC. Emma Miceli is the lone Bearcat with a winning record in singles play this season, sporting a 5-2 record and taking four of the last five decisions across No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
Â
This will be the thirteenth match between these two schools, with Dayton's last victory over Cincinnati coming on March 28, 2015.
