#UDWSOC Wins Second Consecutive A-10 Match With 2-0 Shutout of Duquesne

Freshmen Itala Gemelli and Diana Benigno Scored For The Flyers

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team (5-3-1 overall, 2-1-1 Atlantic 10) shut out Duquesne 2-0 Saturday, March 27 at Baujan Field to pick up its second consecutive Atlantic 10 conference, shutout victory. Prior to the match, the Flyers celebrated their seniors, as well as recognizing Duquesne's seniors.

The Dukes fall to 1-3-1 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play. In the first meeting on March 14 in Pittsburgh, the squads fought to a 1-1 draw.

SCORING SUMMARY
•  For the third consecutive match, freshman Itala Gemelli has scored for the Flyers. She scored in the 61st minute on an assist from junior Yaiza Navarro Leon. It's Gemelli's third game-winning goal this season.
•  Fellow freshman Diana Benigno scored an insurance goal in the 71st minute on an assist from Navarro Leon.

•  The score was tied 0-0 at the half.
•  The Flyers outshot Duquesne 17-5 in the second half (and 23-8 for the match).
