#UDVB Hosting Davidson, VCU This Weekend

Matches Scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Frericks Center

DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team will host Davidson and VCU this weekend at Frericks Center. First serve is set for 5 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Based on campus and local COVID-19 protocols and capacity restrictions, Dayton home athletic events will not be open to the general public. Limited seating is available to guests of Dayton student-athletes (names must be on a pass list for admission). Currently, visiting team fans are not permitted in/at the facility. Additionally, attendance at Dayton home athletic events will be socially distanced and fans are required to wear masks. These protocols will be reviewed as the season progresses.

SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson (2-5, 1-4 A-10) is coming off a 3-2 win over VCU on Feb. 27, the second half of a 1-1 weekend against the Rams on the Wildcats' home court. The team was inactive for nearly a month due to COVID-19 protocols but have played five matches over the last two weeks. Hattie Rodriguez leads Davidson with 2.73 kills/set while Sydney Champaigne is the team's primary setter, averaging 5.28 assists/set. On defense, Bella Brady gets under a team-high 4.76 digs/set and Madeline Wynn is the squad's leading blocker with 0.77 blocks/set.

SCOUTING VCU
VCU is 8-2 overall and 3-1 in Atlantic 10 action and its match at Dayton Saturday is its only contest of the week. Last weekend, VCU split with Davidson picking up a 3-1 win on Feb. 26 but dropped a 3-2 decision on Feb. 27. The Flyers and Rams were scheduled to square off on Feb. 19 in Richmond but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols within the VCU program. The Rams' offense is led by Lauren King with 3.23 kills/set and Dani Jo David leads the team with 5.34 assists/set. Alyna Draper passes 4.66 digs/set while three Rams average over 1.00 blocks/set including Jasmine Knight at 1.34.

ABOUT DAYTON
The Flyers enter the weekend with an overall record of 3-1 and a 1-1 mark in conference action. Dayton claimed a 3-1 win over Duquesne on Feb. 26, the Flyers' home opener and have won three-straight matches. Junior Jamie Peterson's 4.88 kills/set ranks seventh in the NCAA while current A-10 Player of the Week freshman Lexie Almodovar is contributing 3.88 kills/set. Senior Bridget Doherty sets 11.06 assists/set and junior Maura Collins gets under 4.24 digs/set for the Flyers. At the net, freshman Alayna Yates is stuffing 1.60 blocks/set (12th NCAA).
