SCOUTING XAVIER
Xavier (4-4) is coming off a four-set win at Kansas on Feb. 26. Kelly Franxman posted a career-high 17 kills vs. the Jayhawks, her fourth match of the season with 10 or more kills. She added 15 digs for her third career double-double. XU was originally scheduled to play two BIG EAST contests at Creighton Feb. 26 and 27 but those matches were postponed due to COVID issues and contact tracing within the Creighton program. The Musketeers are led by Delaney Hogan with 2.62 kills/set to go with 0.97 blocks/set.
ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (5-1) picked up two Atlantic 10 sweeps at home over the weekend, downing Davidson, 3-0, Friday and putting away VCU 3-0 on Saturday. After averaging 3.17 kills/set and swinging at .459 hit% for the weekend, sophomore middle blocker
Amelia Moore was named the A-10's Player of the Week on Monday. For the season, junior
Jamie Peterson tallies 4.52 kills/set and 5.22 points/set to lead the Flyers' offense while junior
Maura Collins gets under a team-best 3.96 digs/set.
SERIES STUFF
Dayton leads the all-time series between the two programs, 53-26, and the Flyers have won eight-straight meetings between the former A-10 rivals. Xavier's last win in the series was a 3-2 victory on Nov. 4, 2011 in Cintas Center.
UP NEXT
Dayton will return to conference action on Friday with a trip to Davidson, N.C., to take on the Davidson College Wildcats. The two squared off this past Friday at Frericks Center with the Flyers picking up a 3-0 win over the Wildcats. First serve is set for 5 p.m. at DC's Belk Arena.
