Women's Tennis To Host DePaul On Sunday Morning

Flyers Will Play For First Time Since March 28

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team will return to action Sunday morning against DePaul at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg. The match is scheduled for a 10 a.m. start.

UD enters the match having last played on March 28 against Saint Louis. The Flyers are 5-11 in 2021. Sophomore Erica Wojcikiewicz has set the tone for Dayton this season with a 9-6 individual singles record, and a 1-0 record against A-10 opponents. Fellow sophomores Elizabeth Hamilton and Paige Kompa have been the main forces in doubles play, holding down No. 1 doubles with a 9-6 record, and 1-1 in conference play. Junior Claire Ghidotti also owns a two-match winning streak in singles play.

DePaul enters the match 8-4 and will compete for the third time this weekend after splitting matches with Butler and Xavier on Thursday and Friday. The Blue Demons defeated the Bulldogs 5-2 before falling at Xavier 4-3. The team is led by Aspasia Avgeri, who sits at 9-2 in No. 1 singles play and owns an eight-match winning streak. DePaul has also been strong in No. 4 singles, with Marija Jovicic and Yuliya Kizelbasheva combining for an 8-4 record between the two of them in the flight.

This marks just the second time these two programs have met, with the other resulting in a DePaul win on March 5, 2011 at DePaul.
