DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team will host Western Kentucky on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Graul Tennis Complex in Dayton. It will be just the second home outdoor match for the Flyers in 2021.
 
The Flyers enter the match 5-12 on the season after falling to DePaul on April 11^th at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg. Sophomore Erica Wojcikiewicz leads the team with nine singles victories in 2021 playing mainly in the first and second singles flights. In doubles play the Flyers are led by sophomores Paige Kompa and Elizabeth Hamilton, who have held down the fort in No. 1 doubles with a 9-6 record between the pair. Junior Claire Ghidotti has also played well, with a 4-2 overall singles record and a two-match winning streak.
 
Western Kentucky enters the match 6-12 after winning two matches over the past week. The Hilltoppers won 6-1 against Alabama A&M on Sunday, April 11^th before also winning Monday, April 12 over North Alabama 5-2. Cora-Lynn von Dungern has been the staple in singles play this season, with a 9-9 record in the first singles flight. Laura Bernardos has won her last two matches and sits at 11-7 in No. 2 singles in 2021. Von Dungern has paired with Lisa Friess to put up a 10-6 record in No. 1 doubles play as well and the Hilltoppers are 29-18 in individual doubles sets overall this season.
 
This marks the second time these two programs have faced each other, with the last coming on March 10, 2019, a 5-2 Western Kentucky win in Dayton.
