Men’s Soccer Draws With Memphis At Wolstein Classic

The Flyers Rallied From A 1-0 Deficit

COLUMBUS, Ohio  – The University of Dayton men's soccer team finished up the Wolstein Classic Sunday with a 1-1 double-overtime draw against Memphis.

The Flyers (1-0-1) completed its first weekend of the season without a loss while the Tigers (0-1-1) are still looking for their first win.  

GAME RECAP
  • Memphis took the initial lead with a goal in the 36th minute from Brandon Brackett.
  • At halftime, the Flyers had matched the Tigers with seven shots each.
  • Dayton was able to even the score in the 50th minute with a goal from junior Forster Ajago on the assist from fellow junior Xavier Zengue.
  • Ajago finished with a team-high five shots, three on target, and the equalizer.
  • Goalkeeper Marc Kouadio recorded six saves in the contest.

COACH'S COMMENTS
"We played inconsistent today and left too many good chances on the field," said head coach Dennis Currier. "We have to continue to find our rhythm and sustain it for longer periods of time."

  • The Flyers will return home to host Incarnate Word Saturday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. at Baujan Field in the home opener.
