DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team will return home to host University of Missouri-Kansas City this Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will take place at Roger Glass Stadium at Chaminade Julienne High School in downtown Dayton.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton is looking to break its losing skid, falling in the last two outings by a matching score of 3-0. The Flyers are still 3-2-1 overall this season and 2-0-0 at home this year.
Head coach
Dennis Currier is in his 17th year at the helm of the Flyers and the reigning Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. UD replaces just one starter from last year's team that went on to win the A-10 regular season title with a 4-1-1 conference mark.
As a team, the Flyers are scoring 1.83 goals per game and holding opponents to 1.67 goals each outing, but they have been shutout the last two contests. Dayton is also out-shooting opposing squads by a narrow margin.

Forster Ajago, who has four goals and one assist, and junior
Jaden Jones-Riley, who has three goals and two assists on the year. Goalkeeper
Marc Kouadio has started every game with 24 saves.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
KANSAS CITY
Kansas City heads into the weekend with a 1-3-1 record on the year and 1-3 away from home. The Roos are coming off their first win of the season and will look to continue that success at UD.
Head coach Ryan Pore is in just his second season at UMKC and second has a head coach. He led the Roos to a 5-8-1 record last season and previously served as an assistant at Tulsa.
As a team, UMKC is scoring 1.00 goals per game and giving up 2.00 to opposing teams. The Roos are being out-shot 9.2 to 13.4 as well.
Leading the Roos is Jony Munoz, who has one goal and one assist, while four others have scored at least once this season. Goalkeeper Cooper Clark has started all five games with 25 saves and one shutout.
LAST OUTING
Dayton dropped a 3-0 decision at Oakland Wednesday morning on the road. The Flyers were unable to get on the scoresheet for the second straight game.
Kansas City is coming off its first win of the season with a 1-0 victory over SIU-Edwardsville last Friday on the road. Jony Munoz scored the game-winner in the 81st minute to clinch the first win for the Roos.
SERIES HISTORY
Dayton and UMKC have played just one time previously back in 2010 with the Flyers coming out on top 1-0 at home.
JONES-RILEY EARNS A-10 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
Junior
Jaden Jones-Riley was named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 30 after his hat-trick performance in the season-opening win over UAB. He totaled seven points during the two-game stretch.
FLYERS THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was predicted to finish third in the A-10 in the 2021 preseason poll and received two first-place votes. The Flyers were picked behind conference favorites Fordham (six first-place votes) and Saint Louis (three votes), but ahead of Massachusetts and VCU (two votes).
ADJEI NAMED PRESEASON FIRST TEAM
The Atlantic 10 preseason all-conference teams announced as well with Dayton senior
Kingsford Adjei earning All-Conference team honors. He was the lone Flyer recognized on the team from the reigning A-10 champs.
PRESEASON SUCCESS
The Flyers were victorious in all three of their preseason games this year, outscoring opponents 10-2 during the stretch. Dayton opened the 2021 preseason with a 4-2 victory at IUPUI before hosting a pair of exhibitions at Baujan Field. UD then defeated Bellarmine 1-0, avenging a regular season loss from last season and earned a 5-0 thumping of Wabash in the preseason finale.
