DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's tennis team will continue the fall season on Sunday, Sept. 19, in a home match against Thomas More. The match is scheduled for 12 p.m. at Graul Tennis Complex on Dayton's campus.
Â
"We are excited to compete again this weekend and host a match at our outdoor courts," head coach
Erica Echko said. "We've been working hard in practice and now it's time to see how it translates into a match against a little stronger team than last weekend. This match gives us another chance to test different doubles combinations."
Â
The Flyers are 1-0 on the season after taking down Wittenberg 7-0 at Five Seasons Family Sports Club last Sunday. UD took all but one set in the match and took every set during singles play.
Â
Freshmen
Laura Greb,
Neena Katauskas, and
Jordan Mitchell each earned the first wins of their collegiate careers, with all three taking a victory in both singles and doubles play.
Â
Junior
Erica Wojcikiewicz joined Mitchell with a victory in doubles and won her fifteenth career singles match against the Tigers. Fellow juniors
Elizabeth Hamilton and
Paige Kompa started the season with wins in singles.
Â
Thomas More is scheduled to compete at ITA Regionals from Sept. 16-18 and will take on the Flyers in the first dual match of season for the Saints.
Â
The Saints finished 5-11 in 2021 and are returning all but one who had a decision in a singles match last season. Kimberly Sabga went 3-12 at No. 1 singles for Thomas More, and was the only one to compete in the top flight last spring.
