#UDWSOC Earns Draw Against Kentucky Thursday

Flyers Out-Shoot Wildcats 22-14 in Lexington

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team rounded out the road portion of the non-conference schedule on Thursday, as they were in Lexington, KY to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. The Flyers battled the entire night, registering their last shot as time expired in the second overtime, but played to a 0-0 draw.

The draw Thursday was Dayton's first ever in Lexington, previously going 0-4 against Kentucky at the Vickie and Wendell Bell Soccer Complex.

KEY MOMENT
Dayton dominated the shot chart in half number one, limiting the Cats to just two total shots, none of which were on the Flyer net. The Flyer defense only allowed four shots combined in the two overtime periods, and took eight of their own in that span, with 22 total in the match. Marlee Taylor led all Flyers with seven total shots, with four of those being saved by Wildcat keeper Laura Nielsen. Nielsen made 11 total saves in the contest, while Dayton keeper Madelyn Dewey made six saves to record her third clean sheet of the season. Dayton had two quality chances at the Kentucky net in the final 90 seconds of the second overtime, but a long shot from outside the box from Madison Wilson was tipped over the bar for a corner, and a great opportunity from Alexa Holl in the box was kicked away by Laura Nielsen.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will return home for the remainder of their non-conference schedule, beginning with a Sunday tilt against the IUPUI Jaguars from the Horizon League. Sunday's match is slated for a 1 p.m. kick-off at Baujan Field.
