DAYTON - After opening the Atlantic 10 portion of its 2021 season with two wins, the University of Dayton volleyball team is set to play a home-and-home series this weekend with conference foe Duquesne. The Flyers will be traveling to Pittsburgh for a 7 p.m. match at UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse on Friday and will play host to the Dukes Sunday at 1 p.m. in Frericks Center.

Scouting Duquesne
Duquesne (7-6, 2-0 A-10) also opened conference play with wins at George Washington and George Mason last weekend and is set to host Dayton on Friday for its conference home opener. The Dukes' Morgan Kelly leads the team with 3.79 kills/set (3rd A-10) and Hailey Poling leads the league with 9.83 assists/set and serves up 0.37 aces/set (7th A-10). At the net, Anita Parrott collects 1.09 blocks/set (4th A-10).
Series Stuff
Dayton leads, 48-4
The Flyers hold a commanding 48-4 advantage in the all-time series between Dayton and Duquesne. The last time the Dukes downed the Flyers was Nov. 20, 2013 at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
RPI Rankings
In the NCAA's final Rating Percentage Index (RPI) for the 2020 season, Dayton ranked 21st according to NCAA.com. Duquesne came in at 214.
Hausfeld Court
Former Flyer Kacie Hausfeld passed away tragically in an airplane crash during her time as a Dayton Flyer. In her memory, her family made a substantial contribution to the Dayton volleyball program. That donation enabled the program to renovate Frericks Center, adding a new public address and sound system, new seating on the event level, new scoreboards and video boards and the playing surface was named "Hausfeld Court" among many other improvements to the facility.

Tim Horsmon is in his 13th season overall, and eighth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2021. His record at Dayton is 305-89 and his career win-loss mark sits at 481-253 in 23 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's second-winningest coach behind only R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 13 seasons (2009-2021), the Flyers have recorded a 153-14 (.916) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2020, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton made its 21st-consecutive and 24th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2020. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 31-10 record in league tournaments.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 14 times (2020, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 14 times (2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003).
• In the program's 15 NCAA Tournament appearances, Dayton has reached the Second Round eight times and the Flyers hold an 8-15 all-time record in NCAA tourney matches.
• With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program to become just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 12th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,175-606 (.660) over 52 seasons (1970).
• The Flyers finished the 2020 season with a 14-2 overall record and an 8-1 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2020 was the program's 42nd winning season.
