The Flyers Scored A Season-High 42 Points In The Paint

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Dayton women's basketball team went on the road at La Salle University Wednesday and earned a hard-fought victory over the Explorers.

The Flyers (11-3, 2-0 A-10) remain unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play while the Explorers (8-6, 1-1 A-10) suffer their first conference loss.

KEY MOMENT
2:06 in 4th – Dayton graduate student Erin Whalen drilled a three at the 2:06 mark in the fourth quarter to cap a 6-0 run and put the Flyers up 10 with little time left for La Salle to catch them.

  • After a La Salle rally made it a one-point game, the Flyers answered with six straight points in a 1:12 stretch to lead 29-22 and a minute and a half to go in the half.
  • In the first half, Dayton scored 28 of its 31 points in the paint, but were 0-of-7 from the free throw line.
3rd Quarter: Dayton 50, La Salle 44
  • The Explorers closed the gap to start the third with, but then the Flyers answered with a 6-0 run to make it a double-digit Dayton lead, 37-37, just 2:25 into the quarter.
  • La Salle stopped the bleeding with back-to-back threes with just over six minutes to play.
  • At the media timeout, the Flyers were up 41-33 as foul trouble started to affect the Explorers.
  • La Salle pulled within one at 41-40 with 2:52 to play, riding a 6-0 run.

4th Quarter: Dayton 65, 57
