LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Dayton men's tennis team fell at Louisville on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman
Eric Perkowski won the first spring dual match of his career in No. 6 singles for the Flyers in the loss.

Dayton falls to 0-3 on the season, while Louisville opens 2022 1-0.

The Flyers began the afternoon in doubles play, with Dayton jumping out to leads in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Louisville came back to win the third doubles flight and controlled No. 1 doubles giving the Cardinals the point. Juniors
Matt DeMarco and
Max DeCurtins went unfinished in the second doubles flight, but were tied at 5-5 when Louisville clinched the point.

The Flyers continued into singles play, forcing a third set in three of the six flights. Sophomore
Ronit Hiryur battled back after dropping the first set in No. 2 singles, taking the second against Josh Howard-Tripp before falling in the final frame 10-6. Senior
Will Harper also won the second set after dropping the first to Sergio Hernadez in the fourth singles flight before falling in set three.

Perkowski took down Alex Wesbrooks, winning the first frame 7-6. The freshman could not take the second set, but defeated Wesbrooks in the set three to give Dayton a point on the board.

The Flyers return home to take on Xavier on Friday at 7 p.m. at South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg.
