DAYTON - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will head back out on the road to take on the University of Massachusetts Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Center
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
Dayton enters the game with a 12-3 record overall and 3-0 Atlantic 10 mark. The Flyers have won six in a row and look to keep that momentum in Amherst Wednesday.
Head coach
Shauna Green is in her sixth season in charge of the Flyers and was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year 2020, her second time at UD. She earned her 100th win at Dayton in the regular season finale last year.
As a team this year, Dayton is scoring 68.9 points per game and holding opposing teams to 57.8 points each outing. The Flyers are shooting 41.0 percent overall, 38.6 percent from three point range, and 65.9 percent from the free throw line. UD is outrebounding opponents by a +6.1 margin as well.

Erin Whalen and
Jenna Giacone are adding 15.8 points and 12.4 points per game respectively.
SCOUTING MASSACHUSETTS
Massachusetts hosts Dayton with a 14-3 record on the year and 2-1 A-10 mark after suffering a loss at Rhode Island last outing. Prior to that, the Minutewomen had won five in a row. UMass is 6-1 at home this season as well.
Head coach Tory Verdi is in his sixth season at UMass and has previous stints at Eastern Michigan, Kansas, Nebraska, and the WNBA.
This season, the Minutewomen are averaging 73.4 points each outing and limiting opponents to 62.1 points per contest. UMass is shooting 43.0 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from behind the arc, and 64.4 percent from the charity stripe. The Minutewomen benefit from +10.6 rebounding and +2.4 turnover margins.
UMass is led by Sam Breen with 17.1 points and 11.1 rebounds per game with Sydney Taylor (16.3 ppg), Destiney Philoxy (11.4 ppg), and Angelique Ngalakulondi (10.1 ppg) all averaging double figures as well.
LAST TIME OUT
Dayton defeated Saint Louis this past Sunday on CBS Sports with a 77-59 victory over the Billikens. The Flyers were led by
Makira Cook's 27 points while
Erin Whalen added 22 points in the effort.
UMass went on the road to Rhode Island and suffered its first conference loss with a 66-58 decision. Sam Breen recorded a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
THE SERIES
Dayton and Massachusetts have played 27 times previously with the Flyers winning 16 contests to the Minutewomen's 11 victories. UD has won the last four matchups including last year's road win, 52-51.
STATISTICAL RANKINGS
Dayton ranks eighth in the nation in three point field goal percentage and 25th in turnovers per game. Individually,
Araion Bradshaw is 15th in the country in assist to turnover ratio while
Erin Whalen is 21st in threes per game.
FLYERS FAVORITE IN PRESEASON POLL
Dayton was picked to as preseason favorites after winning the A-10 regular season in 2020-21. The Flyers received 11 first-place votes and were selected ahead of Rhode Island, Fordham, Saint Louis, and VCU.

The Atlantic 10 released its preseason all-conference teams and recognized four Flyers ahead of the upcoming campaign. Grad student

Araion Bradshaw picked up All-Defensive Team accolades.
FLYERS IN REGULAR SEASON LEAGUE PLAY
Dayton has won 129 of its last 156 regular season Atlantic 10 games (.827), a streak that dates back to a 97-46 win over Rhode Island on Jan. 7, 2012, and includes a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play during the 2012-13 season.
BRADSHAW NAMED A-10 WOMAN OF THE YEAR NOMINEE
The Atlantic 10 Conference chose its NCAA Woman of the Year nominees and selected University of Dayton graduate student
Araion Bradshaw as one of the two representatives. Bradshaw is the point guard with the women's basketball program and entering her fifth year at UD this fall. The Boston, Mass. native has helped lead the Flyers to four A-10 Championship titles. Bradshaw is a graduate student with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, master's in engineering management, and working on her master's in business management.
Off the court, she has been just as impactful. She started the Athletes Driving Change organization that is a group of minority A-10 women's basketball players focused on the mission to "promote permanent change toward equality through the voices of Atlantic 10 female athletes using a unified and inclusive platform." She earned the Social Justice Award at this year's R.U.D.Y.S. Banquet for her work on equality and education. Bradshaw is a passionate and vocal leader in the community and has represented the University with the upmost integrity.
OFF TO A HOT START
Dayton has found much success under Coach Green in the month of January, going 38-2 in her six seasons as head coach of the Flyers. That includes going undefeated in four of her first five seasons.
THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 636 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 181-22 (.891) when scoring 70 or more points, including 11-1 in 2016-17. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2019-20 when reaching that mark.
