DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball team started off 2022 with a huge win over St. Bonaventure University Tuesday night at UD Arena.
The Flyers improve to 10-3, 1-0 A-10 while the Bonnies fall to 8-4, 0-1 A-10 going into the rest of Atlantic 10 play.

Erin Whalen made her fourth consecutive three-point shot of the game bringing the Flyers up 19-6.

st Quarter: Dayton 27, St. Bonaventure 6
- Graduate student Erin Whalen started off the game for the Flyers with an impressive three-point shot off an assist from fellow grad student Jenna Giacone, who then made a layup and foul shot for a three point play of her own.
- Dayton jumped to a 12-2 lead by 6:19 left in the quarter. Whalen went 3-for-3 in three pointers, leading the Flyers with nine points in the first four minutes of play.
- The Bonnies were held to a 2:31 scoring drought in the middle of the quarter.
- This was the Flyers highest scoring first quarter of the season, and the fifth time UD has scored over 20 in the 1st.

nd Quarter: Dayton 46, St. Bonaventure 13
- The Flyers started off the quarter strong with consecutive steals and driving layups from sophomores Capria Brown and Destiny Bohanon.
- The Flyers held strong on defense, preventing the Bonnies from scoring in the first four and a half minutes of the second quarter.
- Cook broke a scoring lull for both teams with a driving layup for the Flyers with 3:12 left in the quarter.
- A made second-chance layup and resulting foul shot with 1:27 left in the half led to a three-point play by Kyla Whitehead that got the crowd on their feet.

rd Quarter: Dayton 76, St. Bonaventure 25
- The Flyers started off the second half with back to back threes from Makira Cook and Erin Whalen to extend their lead 52-15.
- Dayton remained in control, leading 65-23 going to the media timeout.
- Erin Whalen led the Flyers in the third quarter with 11 points in the period alone.
- The quarter ended with a buzzer beating layup by Dayton's Brown off an assist from Cook.
- The Flyers outscored the Bonnies 30-12 in the 3rd.

th Quarter: Dayton 75 St. Bonaventure 65
- The Flyers experienced a slow start to the fourth, with the Bonnies holding them to a 2:25 scoring drought, and Dayton going 0-4 in FGs to begin the period. Meanwhile SBU gained a 6-0 run.
- A layup and free throw by Amari Davidson, followed by a three-pointer by Wheeler, resulted in a 6-0 Dayton run and got the Flyers back on track.
- Both teams held strong with Dayton seeing another 3:07 drought and SBU going over 4:30 without a field goal.
