Women's Soccer Falls Just Short of #10 Saint Louis

Flyers Score Early But Can't Hold On Against Potent Saint Louis Offense

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team was back in action Sunday, as they hosted the Atlantic 10 leading Saint Louis Billikens, who are currently ranked 10th in the NCAA by United Soccer Coaches.

In a hard-fought match, the Billikens would come from behind in the second half and earn a victory over the Flyers. With the loss, the Flyers drop to 12-3-1, now 6-2 in A-10 play. The Billikens win their 13th straight match, improving to 15-1, 8-0 and in firm control of first place in the Atlantic 10.

KEY MOMENT
The Flyers jumped out to an early lead in the first half, as Laney Huber chipped a beautiful shot over the head of Billikens keeper Emily Puricelli, putting the Flyers ahead 1-0 in the fifth minute. The Billikens would answer back just before halftime, as their 42nd minute goal from Jess Preusser leveled the score at the half.

Just over halfway through the second half, the Billikens would pull ahead for good in the 70th minute as a loose ball in the box from a corner kick landed on the foot of Sophia Stram, who slotted the ball past Batoul Reda to give Saint Louis the 2-1 lead.
