Women's Soccer Set To Close Out Regular Season This Week

Flyers Battle Two Sets Of Rams In Final Week Of Regular Season

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team will round out the regular season of competition this week, as they are set to travel to New York Thursday before closing the regular season at home on Sunday.

The Flyers will head to Jack Coffey Field in New York, N.Y. to take on Fordham Thursday night, for a 7:00 p.m. kick off. The match will be available to stream on ESPN+. Following Thursday's match, the Flyers will return home to close out the regular season against Rhode Island, which will be free to attend and available to stream on ESPN+.

FLYER FACTS
Dayton (12-3-1, 6-2, 3rd in Atlantic 10) will return to the pitch this week after two hard-fought matches against the top-two teams in the Atlantic 10 in two weeks, dropping two close matches against Saint Louis and VCU. The loss to VCU snapped Dayton's nine match winning streak, the longest such streak for the Flyers since 2010 when they won 11 straight.

Defense has continued to be the story for Dayton this season, as they are surrendering just 0.75 goals per match on average. Dayton's stout defense has helped them remain in the top three of the Atlantic 10 standings throughout the season, as they currently sit in third place behind VCU and Saint Louis. Laney Huber has helped pace the Flyers offense, netting her fifth goal of the season in Sunday's loss to SLU.

SCOUTING FORDHAM
The Rams (4-10-1, 3-4-1, 8th in Atlantic 10) will enter Thursday's match as losers of three straight, and currently sitting as the last team in to the Atlantic 10 Championships next week. Kristen Cocozza leads the way on offense for Fordham, with her ten points coming on four goals and two assists.

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND
The second set of Rams the Flyers will face this week, Rhode Island (3-8-6, 2-4-3, 9th in Atlantic 10) will be desperate for points in their final match of the season as they look to earn a place in the postseason. The Rams are a low-scoring team, as they only average 0.88 goals per match on the year. Tierra Garniss leads the way on offense for Rhode Island, as her five goals have helped keep the Rams in contention in Atlantic 10 play.
