Women's Soccer Clinches Second Seed With Sunday Win

Flyers Down Rams To Close Out Regular Season

DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's soccer team rounded out the regular season Sunday, as they hosted the Rhode Island Rams at Baujan Field.
 
The Flyers took an early lead, and as it has the entirety of the season, the Dayton defense carried them to a victory with another clean sheet. With the win, the Flyers finish the regular season with a 14-3-1 overall record, and finish A-10 play with a 8-2 record. With the defeat, the Rams will remain on the outside looking in of the playoff picture in the Atlantic 10, finishing the season 3-9-6 overall and 2-5-3 in the A-10.
 
KEY MOMENT
Noel Blain provided the big moment in Sunday's match for the Flyers, as her third goal of the year set the tone for the match in the 12th minute of the match. Itala Gemelli earned the assist on the Blain goal, bringing her season total to 25 points, tied for first in the A-10. Alicia Donley would add a late insurance goal in the 88th minute on a header in the box, sealing the victory for the Flyers.

UP NEXT
With the win, the Flyers clinch the second overall seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championships. The top four seeds earn the right to host a quarterfinals match, and the Flyers are set to host the #7 overall seed this Friday, Oct. 28 at Baujan Field. The kick-off time for Friday's quarterfinal match will be announced early this week.
