CHICAGO - The University of Dayton men's soccer team traveled to Atlantic 10 newcomer Loyola University Chicago Saturday and left with a point after a 0-0 draw.
The Flyers (8-0-3, 2-0-3 A-10) earned an important point on the road while the Ramblers (5-2-4, 1-2-2 A-10) fended off the Dayton attack.
KEY MOMENT
- Second half – Dayton pushed the tempo early on in the second half, but the Loyola defense managed to hang on for the tie.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dayton and Loyola recorded 13 shots each, but the Ramblers put six on target.
- Junior goalkeeper Dario Caetano earned his sixth shutout of the season and had six saves.
- Senior Forster Ajago and freshman Casper Svendby had a team-high three shots each.
- There were 41 fouls in the contest between the two teams.
- There were also nine yellow cards, five by the Flyers.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"I thought we fought hard to earn a point on the road," said head coach
Dennis Currier. "It is a tough place to play and you have to have a lot of grit in a match like this. The defense deserves a lot of credit for the shutout."
