DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team will be making its 23rd-consecutive and 26th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship this coming weekend. The third-seeded Dayton will match up against No. 6 VCU Friday in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. First serve between the Flyers and Rams is set for 4:30 p.m. ET Nov. 18 at Saint Louis' Chaifetz Pavilion.

SCOUTING DAYTON
Dayton (18-13, 12-6 A-10) earned the tournament's third seed after winning three of its last four A-10 matches, including a 3-2 win over regular-season champion Loyola Chicago on Nov. 4. Flyer sophomore Lexie Almodovar leads the A-10 in both kills/set (3.91) and points/set (4.51) and ranks fourth with 0.39 aces/set while junior Livie Sandt is second in the league with 8.81 assists/set. On defense, sophomore Anna Wuensch is the team's leading passer with 3.38 digs/set (10th A-10) and junior Amelia Moore ranks second in all of Division I with 157 total blocks and ranks third in the A-10 with 1.32 blocks/set. As a team, Dayton ranks second in the conference with 16.89 points/set, .220 hitting percentage, 2.39 blocks/set and 1.86 service aces/set.

ABOUT VCU
VCU (14-16, 9-9 A-10) splits its final two A-10 series on its way to a sixth seed for the upcoming tournament. Tournament champions in 2017, the Rams had its four-time Championship match appearance streak snapped last season in the semifinals by Saint Louis. Heading into the weekend, VCU is led offensively by Qairo Bentley with 3.18 kills/set (4th A-10) and Jasmine Knight carries the team's best hitting percentage (.279, 10th A-10). Crew Hoffmeier gets under a team-best 3.83 digs/set (8th A-10) and Sarah Stratton leads the team with 1.15 blocks/set (4th A-10).

SERIES STUFF
Dayton leads, 16-8
Dayton and VCU splits its 2022 regular-season series in Richmond in Oct. The Rams' 3-1 win on Oct. 15 snapped the Flyers' six-match winning streak in the all-time series. The pair first squared off on Aug. 28, 2010.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton posted back-to-back 3-0 wins over Rhode Island at home last weekend to close out the 2022 regular season. On Sunday, junior Amelia Moore led all players with 12.5 points in the match after recording a match-high nine kills, three assisted blocks, one solo block and one service ace.

RPI RANKINGS
In the NCAA's Rating Percentage Index (RPI) through games on Nov. 13, Dayton ranked 128th according to NCAA.com. VCU is ranked 171st.

DAYTON IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
Dayton is making its 23rd-consecutive and 26th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2022. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 33-10 record in league tournaments matches. The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 15 times (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003). Last season, Dayton dispatched host Duquesne, 3-2, in the semifinal round before defeating Fordham in straight sets to win the title.

Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 13 seasons (2009-2021), the Flyers have recorded a 180-20 (.900) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012, a 15-0 record in 2010 and a 16-0 mark in 2021.
