DAYTON - University of Dayton men's soccer sophomore
Michael Adedokun and volleyball sophomore
Lexie Almodovar have been named the
Ohio's CollegeAdvantage Student-Athletes of the Week. These awards are for contests held Oct. 31-Nov. 6.
Adedokun, who hails from Eruwa, Nigeria, scored the Flyers' game-winning goal with 1:18 left in regulation to earn the win over VCU and advance Dayton to the A-10 Championship Semifinals. The Flyers, who were the No. 6 seed, upset the third-seeded Rams on the road Saturday.
A native of Noblesville, Indiana, Almodovar led the Flyers' offense with 3.67 kills/set and 4.22 points/set in a 1-1 weekend against A-10 leader Loyola Chicago. She recorded a match-high 18 kills to go with eight digs and four blocks in Dayton's 3-2 win over Loyola Friday, snapping the Ramblers' 14-match winning streak. On Saturday, Almodovar led the Flyer attack with 15 kills and was one off the double-double with nine digs in a 3-1 loss.
Each week, two Dayton student-athletes will be recognized throughout the end of the school year.
