HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The University of Dayton softball team closed out the Bearkat Classic with a 6-5 win over host Sam Houston (1-2) Saturday night. Dayton will swing over to Houston for a single game against the Cougars Sunday at 11 a.m.
In their first game of the day, the Flyers dropped an 8-2 decision to the Coyotes of South Dakota (2-1), before picking up the win over the Bearkats. Dayton is now 1-3 on the season.
GAME ONE
South Dakota 8, Dayton 2

Grace Gressly tallied five putouts to go with one assist from behind the plate
• 4 - four different Flyer batters tallied a hit in the contest

Dayton will close out the first weekend of the 2022 season with a single game at Houston on Sunday on the final day of the Cougars' Invitational. UD and UH are set to square off at 11 a.m. Feb. 13 at Cougar Softball Stadium.
