DAYTON – The 2021-22 Academic All-District Teams, selected by COSIDA, was announced Thursday for women's basketball and University of Dayton graduate student
Erin Whalen earned District 5 honors.
Whalen was one of seven student-athletes from District 5 honored, which makes up schools in the states Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
This is the second straight Academic All-District honor for Whalen.
The Charlotte native has had a stellar final season so far, averaging 13.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She has appeared in 75 career games and is approaching the 1,000 point mark for her Dayton career, having already scored 1,000 including her time at Vanderbilt. Whalen has guided the Flyers to a 20-4 record this season and first-place in the Atlantic 10 standings.
Academically, she is working towards her graduate degree in communications. She earned an undergraduate GPA of 3.87 and has a graduate school GPA of 3.88.
Whalen has previously been named Academic All-Conference the last two seasons as well. She joins former Flyers that were multi-honorees Justine Raterman (2010-12) and Kristin Daugherty (2008-11)
