BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The University of Dayton softball team suffered two tough one-run losses on day two of the Hilltopper Spring Fling Saturday. In game one, Illinois State held on for a 1-0 win in the early game and Ohio eked out a 4-3 win after scoring in the bottom of the seventh in the nightcap.
Dayton is now 1-7 on the season while Illinois State is 2-10 overall and Ohio moves to 3-5 after Saturday's games.
GAME ONE
Illinois State 1, Dayton 0

Kelsey Gumm recorded a Dayton career-high nine strikeouts in her second complete game of the season
• 10 - junior
Grace Gressly tallied a season-high 10 putouts from behind the plate

Ohio 4, Dayton 3
• 2 - junior
Ali Weekley was 2-for-2 with one sacrifice hit at the plate and also collected two putouts and two assists at second base
• 2 - junior
Katie Reeg knocked out her first home run of the season, a two-run homer that tied the game in the top of the fourth
Winning Pitcher: Macken Kohl (1-2) - 7.0 IP, 2 ER, 7 K, 0 BB
Losing Pitcher:
Sarah Bailitz (1-3) - 2.2 IP, 0 ER, 2 K, 2 BB
UP NEXT
The Flyers are set to close out the Hilltopper Spring Fling with two games on Sunday. Dayton will again open the day with an 11 a.m. tilt against Illinois State followed by the weekend finale against host Western Kentucky at 4 p.m. Both games will be available via live stats and the contest versus the Tops will be live streamed via Facebook.
