KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Dayton softball team split its Atlantic 10 opening doubleheader at Rhode Island Wednesday. The Flyers claimed a 10-1 win in game one before falling to the Rams 9-3 in the nightcap.

Dayton is now 5-12 overall and 1-1 in A-10 games while Rhode Island is also 5-12 on the season and 1-1 in league action.

GAME ONE
Dayton 10, Rhode Island 1
• 8 - the Flyers combined for eight hits compared to the Rams' two hits
• 3 - senior Alyssa Cacini collected three RBI on two hits and she scored two runs
Winning Pitcher: Kelsey Gumm (1-4) - 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 K, 2 BB
Losing Pitcher: Lynchard (3-7) - 7.0 IP, 7 ER, 7 K, 5 BB

GAME TWO
Rhode Island 9, Dayton 3
• 10 - Dayton tallied a season-high 10 hits as three Flyers posted multi-hit games
• 10 - freshman Emma Schutter recorded her team-high 10th stolen base of the season
Winning Pitcher: Whiteford (2-5) - 7.0 IP, 2 ER, 5 K, 1 BB
Losing Pitcher: Sarah Bailitz (2-5) - 1.1 IP, 3 ER, 0 K, 2 BB
