DAYTON – The University of Dayton men's tennis team will play a pair of A-10 matches over the weekend against Davidson and Richmond. The Flyers will take on Davidson on Friday at 3 p.m. and Richmond on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played at Davidson Tennis Courts in North Carolina.

The Flyers enter the weekend at 12-6 after picking up a pair of conference wins against St. Bonaventure and Duquesne two weekends ago. The Flyers beat both teams 6-1, putting them at 2-0 against A-10 teams this season. Redshirt senior
Steven Karl won his 64
th career singles match against Duquesne, putting him in a tie for eighth in program history with Jordan Benjamin and Steven Nykiel.

Ronit Hiryur picked up a pair of wins, giving him 16 this season which leads the team, playing every match at the No. 2 singles position. Junior
Connor Bruce is right behind with 15 wins and freshman
Eric Perkowski has 14 with an 11-3 record in dual matches.

Davidson enters the weekend 5-9 after falling 5-2 against College of Charleston. This will be the first conference match of the season for the Wildcats after a match scheduled with St. Bonaventure was canceled on Feb. 5. Alejandro Solares and Maxwell Kachkarov have split time at the top singles flight for Davidson this season, while Udday Singh leads the team with six singles victories between the second and third singles flights.

Richmond is 10-8 this seasons and 2-1 against A-10 opponents with wins over Fordham and George Mason. The Spiders went 2-1 over the past week falling to Georgetown on Friday before beating George Mason and Longwood. Richmond has featured three at No. 1 singles this season, with John Walsh, Daniel Kliebhan, and Alex Wernink all seeing matches at the top singles flight. Walsh is also tied with Josh Keitelman with eight wins, the most on the team.

The Flyers are 3-1 all-time against Davidson, with Dayton taking each of the last three matches. The two last met on April 28, 2018 with UD earning a spot in the A-10 Championship with a 4-3 win over the Wildcats. Jordan Benjamin, Zach Berry, and Karl each picked up singles wins in the victory.

Dayton is 1-8 against the Spiders, who beat the Flyers in the A-10 Championship in 2021. Bruce picked up the lone point for Dayton in a 4-1 loss on May 1, 2021.
