FAIRFAX, Va. - The University of Dayton softball team advanced to the second day of play at the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship after splitting its game on day one of competition. Fifth-seeded Dayton dropped the tourney opener to No. 4 Saint Louis, 7-3, but survived the elimination game with a 4-2, come-from-behind win over No. 6 Massachusetts.

Dayton finished the day with a 20-23 overall record. Saint Louis improved to 22-27 on the season and Massachusetts closed out the year with a 19-32 record.

GAME ONE
Saint Louis 7, Dayton 3
• 2 - junior Grace Gressly was 2-for-3 with two RBI
• 4 - senior Alyssa Cacini equaled her season high with four assists

GAME TWO
Dayton 4, Massachusetts 2
• 2 - junior Katie Reeg knocked in the winning run with her two-RBI double in the sixth inning
• 2 - junior Emily Daniel and freshman Emma Schutter each tallied two hits in the game
• 8 - freshman Chloe Wong recorded a career-high eight putouts
Winning Pitcher: Haven Dwyer (4-2) - 0.2 IP, 0 ER, 0 K, 1 BB
Save: Gumm (3) - 1.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 K, 0 BB
Losing Pitcher: Julianne Bolton (8-1) - 6.0 IP, 4 ER, 3 K, 3 BB
