DAYTON – The University of Dayton women's basketball program and head coach Tamika Williams-Jeter have announced the signing of Arianna Smith.

"Arianna is one of central Ohio's favorite players," said Williams-Jeter. "She played at the legendary Africentric High School nestled in the middle of Columbus and won two state championships with several high Division I prospects, one being her older sister. She was also the All-Freshmen team selection in the MVC, showing huge improvements and huge jumps during the course of the season. Arianna is going to bring toughness to our front court with her versatility and her ability to finish well through contact. She was a winner in high school and is going to be a winner for us on the floor. She's going to be a crowd favorite because she's a huge personality. She's a very charismatic and funny kid."

Smith joins the Flyers after spending her freshman season at Indiana State University in 2021-22. She started 16 games in 28 appearances, shooting 47.4 percent from the field and averaged 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Smith played at Africentric High School and averaged 14.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game as a senior. She earned First Team All-Central District, Second Team All-Ohio, and All-City honoree in her final season as well. Prior to that, Smith was named Honorable Mention All-State, Second Team All-District, First Team All-City, and was the third ranked power forward for the 2021 class in the state of Ohio. She led her team to two state championships in 2018 and
2019.

Smith is the latest signing for Williams-Jeter, joining Anyssa Jones from Ohio State, Taisiya Kozlova from Maryland, Sydney Freeman from Ball State, and incoming freshman Nayo Lear.
