Sanchez, Kringen Earn A-10 Honors

The Flyers Earned Two Of The Three A-10 Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference released its first men's soccer weekly awards Monday and recognized a pair of University of Dayton student-athletes.

Senior midfielder Andy Sanchez was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Week after his two goals and two assists in wins over Cal Poly and South Carolina last week, earning All-Tournament Team honors at the Ohio State Wolstein Classic.

Freshman midfielder Gabriel Kringen made a stellar debut as a Flyer with the game-winning goal in the victory over Cal Poly Thursday before adding an assist in the title clinching win over the Gamecocks Sunday. He earned A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades after starting both games.

The Flyers won the Wolstein Classic title after outscoring their opponents 9-2 in the opening weekend of the season, and sit at 2-0 on the year.

Dayton returns to action Friday in the home opener against St. Thomas at 7 p.m.
