Men’s Soccer Cruises To 5-0 Win In Home Opener

The Flyers Struck Four Times In The First 30 Minutes

DAYTON - The University of Dayton men's soccer team made its season debut at Baujan Field and rode a strong first half to a 5-0 victory over the University of St. Thomas Friday night.  

The Flyers (3-0-0) had another dominant offensive performance while the Tommies (0-3-0) still look for their first win of the year.

  • Opening 30 minutes – Dayton outshot St. Thomas 15-0 in the first half and scored four of its five goals.
SCORING BREAKDOWN
  • 6:58 – Senior Andy Sanchez (3rd goal) unassisted
  • 15:40 – Junior Michael Adedokun converted a penalty (1st goal)
  • 20:28 – Freshman Joseph Melto Quiah blasted a rocket from 22-yards out (1st goal), assisted by senior Forster Ajago (2nd assist)
  • 26:41 – Ajago (2nd goal), assisted by freshman Casper Svendby (1st assist)
  • 70:54 – Melto Quiah (2nd goal overall and of game) got the brace off the assist from Adedokun (3rd assist)
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Ajago led the Flyers with seven shots, three on target, while senior Andy Sanchez and Melto Quiah had four each.
  • Junior goalkeeper Dario Caetano recorded his second shutout of the year, but didn't have much to face.
  • Dayton outshot St. Thomas 26-1 on the game.
  • There were four cautions in the game, three on the Tommies and one on the Flyers.
  • UD now has a +12 goal differential through three games, which would put them in a tie for first in the nation.
