DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is opening Atlantic 10 play this weekend at Fordham. The Flyers and Rams are scheduled for two matches at Fordham's Rose Hill Gym, Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (6-7) is coming off a 1-3 week to close out the pre-conference portion of its 2022 schedule. UD claimed a 3-2 win at Ball State Tuesday before suffering three losses over the weekend in the Wright State Tru by Hilton Invitational. Junior Amelia Moore ranks third in the nation with 71 total blocks as she averages 1.31 blocks/set (38th NCAA, 3rd A-10) and averages 2.50 kills/set while swinging at .349 (2nd A-10). Sophomore Lexie Almodovar records a team-best 3.28 kills/set (3rd A-10) and junior Livie Sandt is the team's primary setter with 8.23 assists/set (1st A-10).

SCOUTING FORDHAM
Fordham (6-5) enters Atlantic 10 play on a three-match skid after falling to Sacred Heart, Yale and Villanova at the Yale Invitational Sept. 16-17. The Rams' offense is led by Whitley Moody with 3.74 kills/set (1st A-10) and 0.44 aces/set (4th A-10) while Mallory Lipski is the team's top passer with 3.95 digs/set (6th A-10). At the net, Chloe Pejouan averages 1.14 blocks/set (5th A-10) for Fordham.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton Leads, 44-1
Fordham and Dayton squared off three times during the 2021 season, including in the finals of the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship. The Flyers swept the Rams on their home court to claim their league-record 15th A-10 tournament title and an automatic berth into the 2021 NCAA Tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
Dayton closed out the Wright State Invitational this past Saturday with a 3-1 loss to the host Raiders at WSU's McLin Gymnasium. Outside hitter Lexie Almodovar (16K/10D) and setter Livie Sandt (39A/14D) posted double-doubles while middle blocker Amelia Moore put up 12 kills, her fourth-consecutive match with double-digit kills.

FLYER FACTS
• Tim Horsmon is in his 14th season overall, and ninth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2022. His record at Dayton is 329-97 and his career win-loss mark sits at 505-261 in 24 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's second-winningest coach behind only R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 13 seasons (2009-2021), the Flyers have recorded a 167-14 (.923) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012, a 15-0 record in 2010 and a 16-0 mark in 2021. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2020, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton made its 22nd-consecutive and 25th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2021. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 33-10 record in league tournaments matches.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 15 times (2021, 2020, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 15 times (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003).
• In the program's 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, Dayton has reached the Second Round nine times and the Flyers hold a 9-15 all-time record in NCAA tourney matches.
• During the 2014 season, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program to become just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers entered the 2022 season ranked 12th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,193-607 (.663) over 52 seasons (1970).
• The Flyers finished the 2021 season with a 26-6 overall record and a 16-0 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2021 was the program's 43rd winning season.
