Women's Tennis Competes In Fourth Annual Bethany Moore Invitational Over The Weekend

Flyers Will Finish Fall Season At ITA Regionals In Late October

Box Score MUNCIE, Ind. – The University of Dayton women's tennis team continued the fall season at the Fourth Annual Bethany Moore Invitational at Ball State over the weekend. The Flyers competed against Ball State, Butler, Milwaukee, and Oakland across the two-day event.
 
The Flyers opened the competition on Friday, with UD picking up multiple wins throughout the day. In singles play, freshman Natalie Osiecki opened with a win over Katie Beavin of Butler 6-1, 2-6, 10-5. Sophomore Neena Katauskas also won her first match of the event in straight sets over Elizaveta Mladentseva of Oakland 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Laura Greb rounded out the singles winners on Friday with a straight-set win over Aimee Brown of Oakland 6-2, 6-1.
 
In doubles play on Friday, Greb paired with senior Erica Wojcikiewicz to defeat Delaney Schurhamer and Jordan Schildcrout 8-7. Fifth year Natalie Stanton and sophomore Jordan Mitchell each picked up their first doubles win of the season, pairing up to take down Isabelle Behrman and Emily Desai of Ball State 8-7 as well. Despite dropping their opening match, Osiecki and Katauskas paired together for a win in the consolation bracket 8-2 over Oakland's Yasmin Glazbrook and Nirva Patel.
 
On Saturday, the Flyers returned to take key matches in both singles and doubles. Katauskas beat Jessica Braun of Ball State in three sets after dropping the first one 3-6. The sophomore won her second singles match of the weekend by taking set two 6-4 and the deciding frame 10-8. Senior Elizabeth Hamilton won a consolation bracket with a pair of Saturday wins. She took down Sara Simonova of Milwaukee 6-3, 6-4 as well as Yasmin Glazbrook 7-6, 9-7, 6-1.
 
Mitchell also picked up a three-set singles win over Anouk Ma Ajong of Ball State winning 3-6, 6-1, 10-5. Freshman Grace Murphy won her first career singles matches as well, beating Isabelle Behrman of Ball State 6-3. 6-0 as well as Tara Montreuil of Oakland 6-2, 6-4.
 
Osiecki and Katauskas continued with another win in doubles play on Saturday, defeating Norah Balthazor and Katie Beavin of Butler 7-5. Also picking up a win in doubles play was the pair of Stanton and Mitchell, defeating a mixed-school pair of Jacqueline Pearsall of Ball State and Tara Montreuil of Oakland 8-3, rounding out competition for the Flyers.
