DAYTON - The University of Dayton volleyball team is set to open the home portion of its Atlantic 10 schedule with two matches against visiting Davidson this weekend. Dayton and Davidson are scheduled to play Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. in Frericks Center. Admission is free.

ABOUT DAYTON
Dayton (8-7, 2-0 A-10) picked up two conference wins at Fordham last weekend and the Flyers have won 26 consecutive Atlantic 10 regular season matches. Current A-10 Co-Defensive Player of the week junior Amelia Moore ranks second in all of DI NCAA with 86 total blocks and is 21st nationally with 1.41 blocks/set while junior Livie Sandt leads the A-10 with 8.87 assists/set. A-10 Player of the Week sophomore Lexie Almodovar leads the league with 3.69 kills/set and serves of 0.47 aces/set (4th A-10) and sophomore Ann Wuensch passes a team-high 3.34 digs/set (10th A-10).

SCOUTING DAVIDSON
Davidson (8-5, 2-0 A-10) also opened A-10 play with two wins over the weekend at home against Duquesne and the Wildcats have won four of their last five matches. Davidson's offense is led by Isabel Decker with 3.05 kills/set (5th A-10). Xuan Nguyen paces the Wildcats with 5.13 assists/set (10th A-10) and Bella Brady leads the A-10 with 5.09 digs/set. As a team, Davidson leads the conference with 2.63 blocks/set and ranks second with 12.96 kills/set.

SERIES STUFF
Dayton leads, 13-0
In a series that dates back to 2014, Dayton has only dropped one set to Davidson, a 3-1 win in Frericks Center on Sept. 28, 2018.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Lexie Almodovar led all attackers with a season-high 23 kills while freshman Mia Otten tallied a career-high 16 kills to lead the Flyer offense in a 3-1 win at Fordham last Saturday. Junior Livie Sandt posted her sixth double-double of the season with a match-high 40 assists and a career-high 19 digs and sophomore Anna Wuensch also recorded double-digit digs with 18.

FLYER FACTS
• Tim Horsmon is in his 14th season overall, and ninth since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2022. His record at Dayton is 331-97 and his career win-loss mark sits at 507-261 in 24 seasons as a head coach. Horsmon is the program's winningest coach after surpassing R. Elaine Dreidame who amassed 310 wins 1970-79.
• Over the last 13 seasons (2009-2021), the Flyers have recorded a 169-14 (.924) mark in regular season Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2016, 2015 and 2012, a 15-0 record in 2010 and a 16-0 mark in 2021. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2020, 2019, 2017, 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• Dayton made its 22nd-consecutive and 25th overall appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2021. The Flyers have reached conference post-season play every year they have been a member of the A-10 except 1995 and 1999. UD holds a 33-10 record in league tournaments matches.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 15 times (2021, 2020, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record 15 times (2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003).
• In the program's 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, Dayton has reached the Second Round nine times and the Flyers hold a 9-15 all-time record in NCAA tourney matches.
• During the 2014 season, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program to become just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers entered the 2022 season ranked 12th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,193-607 (.663) over 52 seasons (1970).
• The Flyers finished the 2021 season with a 26-6 overall record and a 16-0 Atlantic 10 mark, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2021 was the program's 43rd winning season.
